Day 1: The Fruitening
Author: Kevin

At the November 1st Vegan Drinks we were having a conversation with a few people about fruitarian diets. It’s always sounded a bit crazy to me, but after doing a bit of research I thought it might be interesting to try it. So instead of spending the holiday season eating junkfood non-stop, I am going to take the next three weeks to try a fruitarian diet. The two things that I am including in the diet besides fruit are nuts and alcohol. I can’t go a full three weeks without drinking because that’s truly crazy! Today was supposed to be day number three but 2 days of Thanksgiving leftovers and one dinner date at Bulan later, the fruitarian diet was pushed back. I’ve come to find out that fruitarian recipes are few and far between, but I found some pretty good ones at Fruitarian Universal Network. The Fruitarian Foundation is another fantastic resource including the general rules of fruitarianism. I’ll try and keep a daily journal of how things are going and any recipes I try out here on the site. Wish me luck!

That’s too funny! I think three weeks is a little excessive! Fruits = Sugar and Nuts = Fat so that diet isn’t going to work out so well! Might I suggest http://www.drmcdougall.com/free.html its only 10 days.

  2. Three weeks is going to be a loooong time. But I’m probably only going to do this once, so I may as well make it count. Maybe I’ll try the McDougall Program the next time I get a hankering for something different.

I wrote this while eating raw almonds BTW. :)
