Picks For The Weekend – January 29 – January 31

Posted by admin | Events, Los Angeles | Friday 29 January 2010 2:38 pm

Looking for stuff to do this weekend? These are our picks:

Saturday, January 30th

Vegan Drinks at Pizza Fusion: Alcohol, vegans, and pizza. Three of my favorite things all rolled into one awesome event. We’ll be making the trek all the way over to the westside to finally check out the Pizza Fusion pizza that everyone’s been raving about. As of right now, there is one RSVP spot left, so if you’re thinking about going, you best get on it. You can find out all the details here. Also note, it’s an early event, from 2 PM – 5 PM.

Sunday, January 31st:

Haiti Fundraiser Vegan Bake Sale: If you find yourself in Hollywood this Sunday, stop by Locali (5285 Franklin Ave) to pick up some of the finest vegan baked goods known to man. ALL proceeds from the bake sale will be going to Doctors Without Borders. We’re making a few items and if previous vegan bake sales are any indication, get there early with a lot of cash because you are going to want to take some of these items home with you. Here is the Facebook event page.

    Shelter Animal Toy Drive Recap

Posted by Kevin | Events, Los Angeles | Monday 25 January 2010 3:36 pm

This past Saturday we had the opportunity to distribute the items that we had collected at last December’s vegan drinks. A few fabulous people gave up their Saturday afternoon to join us giving in out a huge pile of toys, treat, blankets, food and beds to animals at LA Animal Services’ North Central shelter. We want to thank everyone who showed up (or attempted to show up)! We had a great time and could tell that it made the day a little bit brighter for the animals waiting for new forever homes. You can check out a few photos from the event below:

Picks For The Weekend – January 22 – January 24

    Posted by Kevin | Events | Friday 22 January 2010 4:33 pm

Looking for stuff to do this weekend? These are our picks:

    Saturday, January 23rd

Emergency Animal Care Day at Animal Acres: We will be giving out toys and treats at the North Central Shelter on Saturday, but Animal Acres just put out a emergency bulletin to help clean out the barns due to non-stop rain. They are looking for people to come around 10 AM to remove all of the wet straw from the animal barns and replace it with clean dry straw to keep the animals cozy after the storms. Animal Acres doesn’t have the details up on their site, but you can call them at 661-269-5404 if you’re interested in volunteering.

    Sunday, January 24th:

Haiti Fundraiser Bake Sale: Although this isn’t a strictly vegan bake sale event, our favorite cupcake maker, Vegan Bake Sale will be there, so it will be worth it. All proceeds are going to Doctors Without Borders. So stop by Home Ec (3815 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029) this Sunday from 12-5 PM to pickup some great baked good. To Live And Eat In LA has the full scoop here.

Join Us Saturday to Distribute Toys to Shelter Animals

Posted by Kevin | Events, Los Angeles | Wednesday 20 January 2010 5:32 pm

Pup Behind FenceAs part of last December’s Vegan Drinks, The Vegan Collection asked people to bring toys, treats, beds, blankets or cash donations to be distributed to homeless pets. We were taken back by the outpouring of generosity of the Vegan Drinks crowd! We ended up with a complete carload full of items to be donated to LA Animal Services as well as a nice sum of cash which was used to hit up after X-mas sales to maximize our buying power. We have contacted LA Animal Services and set up an appointment to give out all these items this Saturday, January 23rd. We would like to invite anyone who is interested to join us for an hour or two spending time with us handing out treats and giving a little attention to these unfortunate animals who somehow ended up in the shelter system. We will be meeting at the North Central Shelter which is located at 3201 Lacy Street, Los Angeles, CA 90031 at Noon this Saturday. If you would like to join us, please e-mail kevin@thevegancollection.com to RSVP. Once again, we can’t thank those who donated enough!
