Festivities start at noon with farm tours of the sanctuary and at 1:30 everyone gathers to feed the feathered guests of honor (the sanctuary turkeys!) salad, pumpkin pie and stuffed squash. Everyone non-feathered that attends will enjoy a mouth-watering vegan Thanksgiving dinner provided by One World Vegetarian Cuisine and dessert from Cobblermania. Tickets are $35 per person (children 3 and under are free) and can be purchased here or by calling 661-269-5404. But remember, today’s the last day to buy tickets!

Animal Acres’ Country Hoe Down Roundup

Posted by Kelly | Events, Los Angeles | Monday 8 June 2009 1:47 pm

Animal Acres is a chance to get up close and personal with creatures that large percent of the population calls, “Food.” The sanctuary caters in rescuing many livestock animals; goats, pigs, and cows – you name it, it is probably there. Many showed for the event to get a chance to hang with the piglets and nibble on some Vegan food. Despite the ominous cloud cover and icy rain that sparsely made it’s presence known throughout the tour, the one hour trek to the refuge was well worth the visit. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see the refuge I strongly suggest that make time in the future and visit.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the little brown goat for not completely eating my jacket.

Join The Animal Acres Outreach Team

Posted by Kevin | Los Angeles, Volunteer | Wednesday 25 February 2009 11:29 am

Animal AcresOne of the organizations that The Vegan Collection donates a portion of our profits from sales to is Animal Acres. We feel very strongly about supporting the fantastic work that they do and in their latest newsletter they put the call out for volunteers to work at L.A. festivals to recruit other members and volunteers. They are looking for volunteers to help educate people about the plight of farmed animals and let our community know that L.A. has, and needs, a farmed animal sanctuary. If you are at all interested, contact Katie Arth at membership@animalacres.org.

More World Vegan Day Info

Posted by Kevin | Events, News | Monday 3 November 2008 1:07 pm

Time Magazine ran a small article about veganism called “A Brief History of Veganism” in last week’s issue. There’s not a lot of new information in there, but you can find it online here if you want to check it out. Between this article and Lush going vegan for the day, I would say that this past World Vegan Day had to have been the highest profile and most successful to date. Did anyone go to the event at Animal Acres this past weekend? I’m really curious how that went.
