Doomies, You Will Be Missed

Posted by Kevin | Food,Restaurants | Monday 9 February 2009 10:16 am

Doomie'sWe stopped by Friday night’s event but had to leave before Doomie showed up with the food, but we were the first people there at 4 o’clock on Sunday. We had to wait around for a little while, but it was worth it. One of the best ways to spend $10 that I can think of although there are no championship eating contests in my future. 1 1/2 plates of “all you can eat” and I was done. My favorite part, 3 different types of “chick’n”, chick’n legs, chick’n fingers and chick’n breasts. Plus pot roast, mashed potatoes, mac n’ cheese and cole slaw. There was also salad, but come on, salad? Like I’m going to fill myself up on that. Here’s hoping they’ll find a new space soon…

Doomies This Weekend

Posted by Kevin | Los Angeles,Restaurants | Friday 6 February 2009 11:04 am

Doomies FlierMany blogs have been lamenting the close of one of LA most prized vegan restaurants, Doomie’s Home Cookin’. If you never went there, you’re in luck! This weekend Doomie will be serving food at three different locations. Tonight he’s in Pasadena at 580 N. Lake St. starting at 6:30 and will be serving party oriented food that wasn’t the regular menu at Doomies in China Town. It’s a $5 donation. Saturday and Sunday he will be making up a whole host of stuff for an all you can eat $10 feast. For details, click on the image above. Here’s to hoping he’ll find a new home fast. Also, be sure to friend him on MySpace so you can be alerted to all the new Doomies happenings.

Doomie’s Now Has Vegan Twinkies

Posted by Kevin | Food,Restaurants | Wednesday 5 November 2008 4:44 pm

We stopped by Doomie’s this afternoon for a quick lunch. I had the spicy chicken burger, which was great, and we split the Buffalo Legs. After the meal, Doomie came out and told us he had just gotten a batch of Vegan Twinkies and Cupcakes in yesterday. Of course we had to try them and they certainly lived up to all the hype. Even my non-vegan friends who were with me proclaimed that the Twinkies were in fact better than the originals. So hurry down to Chinatown before they are all sold out!

Doomie’s Home Cookin’ Opening Oct. 18th?

Posted by Kevin | Food,Los Angeles,Restaurants | Thursday 16 October 2008 10:08 am

I have not been able to find anything substantial about this, but apparently there is a new vegan restaurant opening up in Chinatown this Saturday the 18th called Doomie’s Home Cookin’. Focusing on vegan versions of American comfort food, they will be featuring items like chili cheeseburgers, chicken picatta, and country fried steak. Anyone have any info, like an address for this place? Or is it just wishful thinking that there would be a new vegan restaurant 3 miles from our house. Looks like we’ll be walking around Chinatown on Saturday trying to track it down.

Update: Lex from Vegan-LA.com was far more resourceful than myself and came up with this info:

We’re at Roberto’s Club
686 N. Spring St. Chinatown LA, 90012
Open Tue-Sun 11a-8p
(714)883-7657
