Volunteer Opportunity: Help Walk Dogs in Covina

Posted by Kevin | Adoption, Events, Volunteer | Friday 5 June 2009 4:40 pm

Pets DelightLast Chance for Animals is putting out the call for volunteers at the Pets Delight store in Covina. They are looking for people for this weekend and upcoming weekends to walk the adorable shelter dogs that the store now carries. I know first-hand how successful mobile pet adoptions are in getting animals out of the shelters and in to loving homes. This is even more critical seeing that there’s the possibility of strays being euthanized after only three days instead of six thanks to budget cuts . So if you live anywhere near Covina, or you want to make it a day with a special trip out to One World Vegetarian Cuisine for their vegan fried ice cream (believe me, it’s worth it!), drop Barbara an e-mail to let her know you are interested or check out their volunteer page.

LCA on The Dog Whisperer Tonight

Posted by Kevin | Television | Friday 8 May 2009 10:51 am

The Dog WhispererLast Chance for Animals and Cesar Millan are teaming up for a puppy mill expose tonight the National Geographic Channel tonight. Cesar goes undercover with Last Chance for Animals’ Special Investigation Unit to witness the horrors of puppy mills firsthand and works to rehabilitate these dogs who have never known the world outside their overcrowded cages. Cesar also works with the LCA team how to rehabilitate the traumatized dogs from the moment they are rescued out of their cages. I used to watch The Dog Whisperer religiously, but after a season or two, the stories got a bit repetitive. This is a nice change of pace and hopefully the high profile show will change the mind of a few potential new dog owners. The show airs tonight at 9pm ET/PT.
