Moorpark MPA Leftovers

Posted by Kevin | Adoption | Wednesday 8 April 2009 2:05 pm

MPA FlyerI volunteered at LA Animal Services’ Moorpark Park Mobile Pet Adoption this past Sunday. Fortunately, the dog that I was holding was adopted by a lovely woman, but some of the others weren’t so lucky. Check out these wonderful dogs that are all available for adoption right now. Click on the image to view the flyer and make sure to forward this post to anyone who you think might be looking for a new best friend. There are also YouTube Videos available for each dog which I’ve posted below:

Picks For This Weekend

Posted by Kevin | Adoption, Events | Friday 17 October 2008 10:14 am

Saturday, October 18th
One thing I’ve been very self-conscious about lately is using the filler words “like” and “um” when speaking. Although studies have concluded that using these filler words have no bearing on the intelligence of a speaker, it is definitely distracting and takes away from the point they are trying to convey. I’m sure attending Saturday’s Vegan Toastmasters would be a great start towards eliminating that nasty habit.

Sunday, October 19th
Once again I’m picking the two Mobile Pet Adoption events going on at Moorpark and the West LA Farmers Market. The shelters are overflowing with animals and the MPAs are a great way to gauge a potential pet’s personality.

Pics From Yesterday’s Moorpark MPA

Posted by Kevin | Adoption, Events, Los Angeles | Monday 6 October 2008 9:07 am

I’m happy to report that Canela from yesterday’s post was adopted. When I got her off the truck, I was informed that she was “Redlisted” and today was really her last opportunity to get adopted. If things didn’t work out for her, she would be going back to the shelter and would be safe until Thursday, but then be euthanized. The pressure was really on to find this girl a home. Unfortunately, you can’t let on that the dog is scheduled to be put to sleep, so you have to just push that they would make a great pet and leave it at that. I thought that I had her adopted early in the day to a gentleman that came by and had another dog that looked exactly like her. I pushed the “you need a matching set!” angle, but that didn’t work. He walked away with her number and “would think about it,” but I didn’t get the vibe that he would be back. Fortunately, a little later a great family with a young girl stopped by. After 2 hours of chatting with them and a lot of reassurance from the other volunteers, they signed on the dotted line and are picking her up from the spay/neuter facility today. Canela was absolutely adorable, was so ready to please and super smart. They are getting a fantastic pet that is bound to be a loyal companion for years to come.

I snapped some photos at the event and have posted them below. As of yesterday afternoon, all the dogs you see in the gallery are still available (including that adorable white sleepy puppy). Get in touch with me if you see something you may be interested in and I can put you in contact with someone for more information.

Picks For The Weekend

Posted by Kevin | Adoption, Events, Los Angeles | Friday 3 October 2008 11:39 am

Saturday, October 4th
The beauty of having your own site is that you can promote the crap out of your own events. Don’t forget our launch party at Vegan Village, 4067 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, California, 90019.

Sunday, October 5th
I’ll be at the Moorpark Park Mobile Pet Adoption trying to hustle used, but in almost new condition, dogs. Stop by and take a look at our selection. It’s on the corner of Laurel Canyon & Moorpark St. in Studio City.
