Join Us Saturday to Distribute Toys to Shelter Animals

Posted by Kevin | Events, Los Angeles | Wednesday 20 January 2010 5:32 pm

Pup Behind FenceAs part of last December’s Vegan Drinks, The Vegan Collection asked people to bring toys, treats, beds, blankets or cash donations to be distributed to homeless pets. We were taken back by the outpouring of generosity of the Vegan Drinks crowd! We ended up with a complete carload full of items to be donated to LA Animal Services as well as a nice sum of cash which was used to hit up after X-mas sales to maximize our buying power. We have contacted LA Animal Services and set up an appointment to give out all these items this Saturday, January 23rd. We would like to invite anyone who is interested to join us for an hour or two spending time with us handing out treats and giving a little attention to these unfortunate animals who somehow ended up in the shelter system. We will be meeting at the North Central Shelter which is located at 3201 Lacy Street, Los Angeles, CA 90031 at Noon this Saturday. If you would like to join us, please e-mail kevin@thevegancollection.com to RSVP. Once again, we can’t thank those who donated enough!

Picks for the Weekend: August 28 – 30

Posted by Kevin | Events, Los Angeles | Friday 28 August 2009 10:28 am

Looking for fun stuff to do this weekend? These are our picks:

Saturday, August 29th:

First Annual Summer’s End Vegan Shindig: Be part of the biggest vegan party of the summer! 5 LA vegan MeetUp groups (Los Angeles Vegan Drinks, Orange County Vegan Drinks, Avec Mes Amis, Orange County People for Animals and United Animal Advocates of LA) are joining up to bring you THE vegan event of the summer. The price is $25 at the door ($45 for couples) and includes all-you-can-eat dishes featuring Daiya vegan cheese, vegan wine and aguas frescas. The event is being held at Mama’s Hot Tamales but as of right now, the event is “sold out”. You can contact one of the MeetUp organizers to see if you can be put on a waiting list. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

Sunday, August 30th:

Pawpsicle Party befitting the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation:Bring your leashed dog to enjoy Pawpsicles while helping out the WorldHeart Foundation. Tickets are $20 and it includes a raffle ticket, wine and hors d’oeuvres. I’m not sure of the “vegan-ness” of the food/drink at this event, but it’s still a great cause which you can read about here. Find out more info about this event by calling 310-284-8777.

For more events check out the calendar.

Vegan Drinks Tomorrow Night

Posted by Kelly | Events, Los Angeles | Friday 26 June 2009 9:36 am

Vegan DrinksThis Saturday night is Vegan Drinks happening at Desert Rose Restaurant in Los Feliz. From 7:00 PM until who knows when, join nearly 100 vegans drinking and enjoying pizza from Cruzer Pizza which is located next door to the restaurant. Desert Rose has also promised to have a few special vegan items on the menu for that evening. Although I’m all about the drinking and less about the eating, I’m sure I’ll be trying a slice or two. I have not been to this bar/restaurant, but apparently they have a large patio outdoors so it will be a perfect evening to enjoy the 80 degree sunny Saturday. See you there?

Location:
Desert Rose Restaurant
1700 Hillhurst Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90027
323.666.1166

World Vegan Day: Vegan Drinks

Posted by Kevin | Events, Los Angeles | Sunday 2 November 2008 7:49 pm

Stopped by Sante La Brea on Saturday night to celebrate World Vegan Day. We ran into old friends, friends we seem to see on a weekly basis and met some great new people. We had already eaten, so we didn’t try any of the entrees but had a fantastic piece of peanut butter/chocolate pie. But the general consensus was that the food was excellent. Check out photos from the event below.
